1. The objectives of HIV/AIDS counseling includes prevention of HIV infection by changing life styles and behaviours and providing psychological support to those already infected. It also includes motivation of change in high-risk behaviour.
2. The diagnosis of HIV infection in an otherwise healthy individual evokes a series of psychological reactions like denial, anger, anxiety, depression to finally acceptance. In order to enable the infected status and carry on with life as prevent transmission of the virus, counseling is a must, since it induces a positive attitude.
