Following measures be undertaken by healthcare workers while undertaken dentistry by healthcare personnel:
1.Gloves should be worn while examining oral lesions.
2.Surgical masks and protective eyewear should be worn when splashing is likely.
3.Impervious backed paper or aluminum foil should be used to cover surfaces like handles, etc which cannot be disinfected. The coverings should be removed, discarded and replaced between patients.
4.High speed evacuations, rubber dams and proper patient positioning should be done to minimize aerosols.
5.Instruments should be sterilized after each use; either by autoclaving or by dry heat. Heat sensitive instruments should be treated with a suitable disinfectant.
6.Before cleaning the instruments, debris should be removed by scrubbing with soap and water.
