ACTIONS AT EACH COUNTRY LEVEL TO COMBAT SPREADING AIDS AS A DISEASE

1.Each country should undertake programme to spread awareness about AIDS .

2.The objectives of the programme are :-

(a) To establish an effective surveillance for HIV /AIDS is all states, to monitor the epidemic.

(b) To provide sound technical support .

(c) To ensure a high degree of awareness of HIV/AIDS and its prevention in the population.

(d) To promote condom use for safe sex .

(e) To target interventions at groups identified as high risk .

(f) To ensure safety of blood.

(g) To develop the services for providing support to persons with HIV/AIDS.

(h) To strengthen the control of sexually transmitted disease.

(i) To prevent mother to child transmission (PMTCT) in a phased manner.
