Categories of persons to be screened for AIDS/HIV in the ARMED FORCES of any country

1. The following categories of individual are required to be screened for HIV infection in the armed forces of any country:

(a) All blood donors and all recipients of blood and blood products.

(b) All patients of STDs ,Patients on dialysis, Suspected cases of AIDS/ARC.

(c) Persons giving a history of sexual promiscuity , IV drug use and homosexuality .

(d) Antenatal case in first trimester, which the obstetrician considers to be high risk and provided local facilities , are available .

(e) Spouses and relative of HIV infected personnel.

(f) Health personnel who get needle stick injuries or are otherwise exposed.

(j) Cases of Pulmonary TB.

(k) Service personnel proceeding abroad on duty.

(l) All service personnel returning from overseas duty, after 3 months of their return . Another test will be carried out 6 months from the date of return , if the body of troops is dispersing from the common disembarkation point before three months , the test will be conducted before such dispersal.
