GUIDELINES FOR TESTING FOR HIV/AIDS IN A COUNTRY

1. As a matter of general policy of the government of any country, the following aspect may be noted:-

(a) No individual should be made to undergo compulsory testing for HIV.
(b) No compulsory testing for HIV should be imposed as precondition for employment or for providing health care facilities during employment .
(c) Adequate voluntary testing procedures with counseling facilities should be made available throughout the country in a phased manner.
(d) HIV testing should not be a precondition for providing health/medical care in any health care setting.
